The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is a key component for all the electronic devices we depend on every day. The printed circuit is like the neuro pathways that connect the brain (processor) to the other parts of your electronic device. Like the neuro pathways in our bodies, the network of circuits within the PCB is getting more and more complex, with the circuits getting thinner and tightly packed.
As you can imagine, with multiple layers of fine circuits stacked together into a board, the production process and the process environment is highly refined. Each layer of the PCB board is constructed separately. The typical processes used for each layer are relatively similar, but due to different circuit characteristics, the process parameters may be different. In order for the processes to be reliable and repeatable, the processes are controlled using variable frequency drives (VFDs). The process equipment must also be highly dependable to ensure process consistency. Finally, the process parameters are continuously feedbacked and checked to make sure process parameters do not run-away, e.g. from damaged nozzles or clogged filters.
